The world is filled with distractions and irritations, making it easy to become sensory overloaded. While this is true for all of us, it is exponentially worse for people suffering from trauma.

At Sensory Intelligence®, we want to help you understand and use your unique sensory wiring to stay calm, focused and comfortable. With regards to traumatic experiences, it can be challenging to get out of your head and into your body… thinking is difficult and often makes it worse. Using what we already have – the body and the senses – we can make this skill so much easier. We know that an individual has 7 senses which connect you with the parts of the brain associated with calm, comfort and a controlled state. This is fully rooted in neuroscience.

The Sensory Matrix™, a self-assessment that we offer, measures neurological thresholds to help you understand your sensory triggers, i.e. things you should avoid, as well as your sensory drivers or things you need more exposure to. Self-regulation through the 7 senses can thereby become customizable through the use of sensory snacks, sensory diets and sensory ergonomics. Watch the video to learn more about these and how you can implement other highly effective sensory strategies to radically improve your quality of life.

If you are a service provider, therapist or counsellor working with people who are or have experienced trauma and you want to expand your toolbox, then please read more about our practitioner’s training. We would love to share the magic of our work with our wider community.
