The hidden costs of sensory mismatch in your workplace

  • Declining productivity — employees are distracted, unfocused and struggling to deliver consistently
  • Rising burnout — people overwhelmed by noise, light, digital demands and constant stimulation
  • Hybrid confusion — no data on who thrives at home versus who performs better in the office
  • Disengagement — teams that feel unsupported and misunderstood in their work environment
  • Wasted investment — workspace redesigns and wellbeing programmes that don’t move the needle

Traditional personality tests and engagement surveys miss the critical factor: how your people’s nervous systems actually respond to their environment. Every employee experiences work differently.

The science-based solution:Senses@Work™

Senses@Work™ is the only workplace assessment that measures sensory processing — how each employee’s brain responds to stimuli in their physical and digital work environment — and then matches employees to their most productive workspaces based on the results. In just 10 minutes, it reveals who thrives at home, who performs better in the office and how to get the best from both — because the most effective hybrid strategy is one built on data, not assumptions.

Developed by Dr Annemarie Lombard and rooted in 30 years of neuroscience research, it is the missing piece in every modern people strategy.

An open office with natural light, a view and plants.

Why Senses@Work™ beats traditional tools

  • Personality tests are generic — they measure how people think and behave, not how their nervous system responds to the environment
  • Engagement surveys are retrospective — they tell you what went wrong, not how to prevent it
  • Senses@Work™ is predictive and specific — it tells you what each person needs before problems arise
  • Unique features include:
    • Best-fit work environment — home, office or hybrid combinations recommendations based on sensory thresholds
    • Physical workspace strategies — light, sound, temperature, movement, layout and clutter
    • Digital workspace strategies — notifications, screen setup, video calls and digital fatigue management
    • Performance tips — how each person works best, their stress risks and management guidance

How Senses@Work™ work?

  1. Deploy assessments — employees complete 60 science-based questions in approximately 10 minutes
  2. Receive individual reports immediately — each employee gets a personalised 10-page report with their full sensory identity results
  3. Implement recommendations — use insights to optimise workspace allocation, hybrid policies and team management
  4. Scale with group reports — for organisations, we provide group reporting and facilitated workshops for deeper implementation
  5. Measure results — track improvements in focus, engagement, well-being, and performance

Taking the Sensory Matrix test was an eye-opening and enlightening experience for me. Understanding the effect of your senses on your behavior is more important that you think, in that the effects are fundamental and far reaching. Having the knowledge allows you to either avoid or prepare for the interactions that cause you stress. Ultimately, small changes in behaviour can lead to more happiness and contentment in your life, which is something that everyone needs in these times. My advice – take the test, you will not be sorry. The report is an extensive document and you will learn a lot about yourself. The team at Sensory Intelligence are kind, caring and knowledgeable people and this translate into their products.
